Fortunella Japonica
CHARACTERISTICS
The Round Kumquat is native to the cold subtropics of China and is a slower growing plant than the Oval Kumquat.
Round fruits with sour pulp and very sweet yellow-orange skin and contain 6 to 9 medium-sized seeds generally polyembryonic.
Medium-sized eliptical leaves with entire margin, pointed apex and barely noticeable dark green, shiny fins while the flowers are fragrant and white.
USES
It is a plant with compact growth and therefore tends to be very decorative, one of the most cold-hardy.
Its uses are varied in the kitchen: eaten with the peel, used in desserts, ice cream, jams, cocktails and perfumes.
