CHARACTERISTICS The Pursha lime variety is probably a hybrid between a lime and a chinotto. It is a globular plant with eliptical, medium-sized leaves with an inner or slightly crenulated margin, pointed tip and barely visible leaflets. The fruit has a coarsely papillate, yellow skin with green tones on the distal side, light yellow flesh with 10-15 seeds per fruit. The flesh has a pleasant sweet-and-sour but tasty flavour. During spring the plant grows clusters of flower buds with an intense and sweet scent that make it spectacular and elegant.
USES Very ornamental plant variety due to its enviable and attractive appearance of both flowers and fruit. The juice of the fruit is used in cooking to make jams, juices and desserts or to marinate meat and dress salads. The fruit is rich in vitamin C and potassium. The thin peel is very fragrant because it is rich in essential oil! Highly valued by the perfume industry for creating unusual perfumes, detergents and deodorants sought after for their delicate, fresh scent.
